I have only recently joined Roots Chat.  My great grandfather is Walter Stokes (1869 - 1940).  I think the photograph was taken in 1913 when Walter Stokes son, Thomas Stokes, was aged 21. I understand the factory was decorated with flags and there was a party held which kept going for 3 days.  Thomas Stokes (1892 - 1973) was given a very large portmanteau which may be the one shown in the photograph.  Thomas Stokes worked at Ames Stokes Stevens from 1907 to about 1955.
