John BENSTEAD bc 1832 Whittlesey

Good Afternoon Folks

I am trying to find a baptism for the above chap please.

I have looked on Family Search and FreeREG but have drawn a blank.

He is in Whittlesey on the 1841 together with Alice Benstead bc 1811 and Ann Benstead age 8 years. Alice is described as a Widow.

I cannot find a marriage of an Alice to a Benstead either!

If anyone would like to wave their Magic Wand I would be most grateful.

Have you got any of them on later censuses to get a place of birth? He may have been in Whittlesey in 1841 , but not necessarily born there?

Isn't widow crossed out on 1841?    And of course, John may not be a son!


Could this be Alice and Ann in 1851?

Or maybe she was a widow, but reamarried to another Benstead ...  or may have been single

Ah - in 1851 John is lodging with a Cowling family at Goldings Famr Ramsey, and yes he does give pob as Whittlesey

Thanks all. I NEARLY put that John is consistent with his place of birth on the following census returns!
Yes I had found the 1851 for Alice and was somewhat befuddled by her having a much younger husband!

OK. I have just thought  to search trees on GR (Duh!) and five people have a John Benstead born 1831 in Whittlesey. Off to send some messages now!
