There are a couple of Hugh Hunters in the army pensioners records.

There's one born Shankill, Belfast circa 1837 who served with the 30th Foot in the Crimea and was discharged in 1856 aged 19 having lost his left foot to grapeshot wound. A wood turner.

The other, also born Shankill, circa 1836, served with the Dragoon Guards but he wasn't discharged till October 1861. He was a clerk.

Thanks Shaun, yes it seems that is the correct marriage.

Found this thread late last night about the King family connection. Again the ages on the censuses don't add up. The originals may be difficult to read and perhaps have been mistranscribed??

Hugh Hunter the army pensioner died on 10 June 1874 per the pension records.

The records of Hackney workhouse show the admission of Hugh Hunter, cabinet maker, born 1834, on 2  June 1874.  Condition described as "ill".
