John Farren Bronx
« on: Saturday 05 November 16 20:21 GMT (UK) »
I am seeking information on the death of a John Farren: born Malin Donegal County Ireland 1896/99. I have his immigration record. He left the port of Londonderry in 1925. I cant find him in 1930 US Census. In the 1940 Census I found a John Farren with two children Cecelia ( 7) & Mary ( 6). He is a widower. He resided in the Bronx New York. For some reason I believe that this could be the John that I am seeking I found the death of his wife Mary in 1936 age 27 in the Bronx. I cant find any record of his marriage to Mary McConway (her maiden name on death record) between 1930/33. The reason that I believe that the marriage was during this period is because I found Mary in 1930 US Census as Mary McConway. Their eldest child (
(*) ) was born around 1933 ie age 7 in 1940 US Census. ( a ) I would love to find death record of John-possibly around 1970/75 considering life span. ( b) perhaps a marriage of Mary or
(*) Farren possibly 1953/58. Can any of the Roots Chat family give any help?

There is a New York City marriage index beginning in 1950 here - http://www.nycmarriageindex.com/

Do you know if the daughters are deceased?  If not, their names will need to be removed, as they may be living.

Anc tree says - John Farren was born on November 17, 1899, in Moville, Donegal, Ireland, his father, Hugh, was 32 and his mother, Cecelia, was 19. He married Mary McConway in 1930. They had two children during their marriage. He died on September 22, 1959, in New York, at the age of 59.

Date does not match the naturalization above though  ::)

There is an entry on the Connecticut marriage index that matches the John Farren/Mary McConway marriage - http://ctstatelibrary.org/marriage-records/
