Royal Navy medal question
« on: Sunday 06 November 16 17:24 GMT (UK) »
I am posting this on behalf of a friend who recently discovered her fathers Certificate of service from  the Royal Navy.
Please could someone explain what the entry dated
23Feb '48 Paid LS & GC. Gratuity (£20) means ?
Did he have to pay this money of was he paid it ?

Thanks very much paul for your super quick response.
Thought it would probably been that but I said I would check.
It must have been a great bonus in 1948, wonder what he spent it on.

OFG, your friend might be interested in this in connection with the Long Service and Good Conduct medal her father was awarded: http://www.godfreydykes.info/PROPER%20NAVAL%20RESEARCH.htm
