Francis Joseph WEAVER went on to marry Ellen Lucy GILLIGAN two years after the engagement announcement.

He was the son of Catherine Elizabeth and Frank Bertram WEAVER.

She was the daughter of Ellen and Andrew GILLIGAN.

This Francis maybe the persons sought .... but not exactly a "Catholic priest", is he

If the marriage had ended, perhaps Francis then became a priest? Or maybe he had trained as a priest as a very young man but "flagged it away"?

At least 2 trees at ancestry.com - show Andrew as s/o Thomas GILLIGAN and Mary nee MURRAY, with his birth at Dunedin.

That will be them. Guess the tree that Lucy2 can see is wrong for the Mary from that family as she married in 1925 and died in 1930. I did say I can't get at it till tomorrow. Boy oh boy How could Dad have been so far out with his age  guess.

The approximate year of birth (c. 1922) you gave for "Frank WEARER"  - and his vocation, put us off the scent somewhat ... 

Can confirm that the last (available online) electoral roll Francis Joseph WEAVER and his wife Ellen Lucy WEAVER appeared in, was 1981 - Eastern Hutt electorate - at Tennyson Ave, (in or near to Avalon, Lower Hutt).   Wife Ellen, died in 1996 (I think ?).
