I don't suppose it's possible to see what, if anything, is written on that noticeboard to the right of the group of people in photo 4 ????

I haven't found anything exactly the same, but some old photos of the lake in Peasholm Park in Scarborough seem to me to have the same kind of feel as the first few here.

definitely not west tanfield, the houses are on the wrong side of the river I have even checked using an old maps and no other bridge going over the river ure so that's out!

I did say just the first few - in other words, the ones with the man-made rock and water features.

I think St Anne's on sea Lancashire is a match for the rock gardens.  I've never been but just widened the search out of Yorkshire.  :)
