Owens - Llangurig
« on: Sunday 24 July 05 22:58 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me with the Owens (definitely with an 'S') family of Llangurig please.

I believe that at one time they lived in a house/farm called Rhoscastell and that one member of the family (the local bobby) was known as Sergeant Owens or Uncle Sergeant.

Many thanks

Hi again Dave

I believe that they lived there in 1901.  Poss they could have lived in a place called Warrin in Llangurig before  then which is either in ruins or knocked down.

Again, anything would help

Cheers

Hi Seviad,

The 1901 Census does not show any male OWENS but does show 10 male OWEN (no policemen) aged between 4months and 77 born and living in Llangurig.   It shows a further 9 born anywhere and living in Llangurig (no policemen).

The Census shows 1 female Martha Owens age 21 born Llangurig.   It also shows 14 Owen females aged between 5 and 70 born Llangurig, and a further 6 born anywhere aged between 4 and 75.

In order to find more about any of these, on payment of a fee, go to http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Cheers Dave
