noah Tunicliffe born 1835 in Staffordshire
« on: Tuesday 15 November 16 15:22 GMT (UK) »
I've been tracing this relative and found that in December 1850 he received 7 years for larceny etc. and the record said he should be deported. As it's quite a distinctive name, can anyone help me find out what happened to him? No further record of him in the UK as far as I can see.
Many thanks

Noah Tunnicliffe is on the 1951 Census as a prisoner at Millbank Prison, Westminster, Middlesex it states he was a farmer from Middle Hill, Leeds (which should be Leek, also his surname looks like Tannceliff)  He was released on license 18th May 1855. I also found while waiting for trial he was undergoing probationary punishment on board the convict ship Defence at Woolwich.

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C10168955 confirms his release on licence in 1855 as Ellenmai has posted.  Records of his sojourn at various dates on a prison hulk to which he would have been sent after Millbank are in the series HO 8 at the National Archives (also on FindMyPast).

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

thanks to both. That's definitely him because Middlehills Staffordshire was where he lived!
