Amelia Hagren's Parents?
« on: Wednesday 16 November 16 15:04 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon all.

I'm trying to find out about Edward and Jane Susanna Hagrean (I have no idea how this should be pronounced and by all accounts there seems to exist a variety of spellings). They are listed as the parents of Amelia Hagrean, baptised at Marylebone 14.11.1819, born 16.4.1814.

That's literally all the information I have about these two. I can't find a marriage record, I can't find a burial for either of them. There is an Edward who appears in the Marylebone registers some years earlier, married to an Elizabeth. I can't find a burial for Elizabeth to suggest that she could have died and Edward remarried.

As for Amelia, she married Richard Salter in 1831 and died in 1858. The witnesses on her marriage record provide no clues.

Any help appreciated!

I thought I was looking at Richard and Amelia in 1851 - living in Buckinghamshire?  But I think this must be the wrong couple? He a GP?   Because this one has a Creasy sisiter in law, plus Amelia says bn Peckham, which links to the chr in Peckham of an Amelia Nicholson Creasy, dtr of Edward Hill Creasy and Amelia his wife ...  and to a marriage in 1845 to Richard Salter

So - where are "your" Richard and Amelia in 1851? And where did they marry?

In 1851 Amelia and Richard are in Marylebone, with their 3 children. No other family present to provide any clues.

I haven't found them in the 1841 census.

I suppose the fact that Amelia was baptised in Marylebone and married in adjacent parish Paddington could be significant in that the family may not have moved far inbetween.

Hi! Yes they're all relevant baptisms.

Eliza Salter is my girlfriend's 4x great grandmother. Although, she appears as Louise on the 1851 census, it appears...

Unfortunately they don't seem to have been in Crawford St, Marylebone in 1841 (address from the 1840 baptisms) - though I've only skimmed through so may have missed them.

A search for Faith Welby will take you to the start of Crawford St (it begins just after her household - I have picked her for her unusual name).
