What Is My Uniform???
« on: Saturday 19 November 16 09:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone!  I have here a photo of a possible relative in WW1 uniform that a member of my family just emailed me.

We have no idea what Regiment etc his uniform signifies, nor do we know his name or where he lived (although it's likely it was the Midlands area) - it's one of those mystery photos from the bottom of the box which no-one wrote on the back of!

We thought if we could find out about his uniform we might be able to approach the modern day regiment for further info.

If anyone recognises anything in the photo, it would be much appreciated!

Many thanks, Nina

Could be an officer of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment but there are people more knowledgeable than I am.

Thanks Medpat - I just looked on Google under Royal Warwickshire Reg and the badges seems to be the same, so thanks for your help!  Nina

Can't add much except to say the "T" under his insignia denotes an Officer in one of the Territorial Batts. of which there were several.

The only other bit of info is that he's wearing a forage cap which was introduced in 1915.
Which also doesn't help.
You could remove the back of the frame & see if there is anything resembling a place or date.
Otherwise it's a case of contacting the Regt. Museum & see if they can match the photo to one of their Officers.

Thanks Jim1!  There's nothing on the back of the photo but that's a good idea to see if the museum might be able to match the photo ...

Many thanks, Nina

You could use a bit of lateral thinking if you consider him to be in his early 20's giving a birth date of around early to mid 1890's & that Officers were drawn from the middle & upper classes means that you could rule in anyone in the extended family that meets that criteria.
It would help if you know the original owner of the box or photo.
If you can compile a list of possible contenders (names) you can check the military resources & see if any of them served in the RWR as an Officer.
