I think this could be the William who died 1826 aged 74 years who was a sexton for 35 years at Wolsingham according to newspaper reports.

My search through the BT the other day picked up these Williams who were 'taylors'.

Baptism

() 1816 april 3 - Thomas son of William & Priscilla Collinson , wolsingham , taylor

() 1789 feb 22 – david son of William and Hannah collinson of wolsingham taylor (page 33)

Marriage
1775 nov 20 – William collinson to Hannah Wannup

... There sure seem to be a lot of tailors in Wolsingham named William Collinson, across the years.

Seems to me the deeper we dig the more confusing it gets.

The new GRO database gives Mary's age at death as 59.

From 1843, that goes back to 1784.
Marriage date (we would optimistically expect to be in the range) 1805~1815.

Hi all,

I don't know if anyone is still following this topic, but anyway I want to say that I have found a William Collinson born in Wolsingham who was born the same year as the Mary Collinson who died in 1843 (as reported in the newspaper) : 1784. I'm very surprised that we missed this fellow before. He is the son of the man we were checking out previously, the 35-year sexton who died in 1826. He would be (as it were) a suitable husband for this Mary.

I have not been able yet to find a death year for this William Collinson, which should be no later than 1843 and no earlier than 1817 when his son was born. Neither have I been able to find Mary Collinson in the 1841 census, as a wife or as a widow. Any help with that would be appreciated.

Cheers
David C
