There doesn't appear to be any sign of Stephens marriage in Northamptonshire.

Whittlebury is very close to the Buckinghamshire border, and there is very little online from Buckinghamshire. The marriage may be over the border, in one of the towns or villages in North Buckinghamshire.

You can, however, ask the Buckinghamshire Family History Society to search their databases.

There's no guarantee, of course, that they're there, but it has to be worth a punt. It's £1 for a search for a specific event, and £3 for 100 years of a specific surname, per type of event.

Stephen was baptised in Whittlebury on 3 Jan 1748, as Stephen Woodfield Whitlock, the illegitimate child of Elizabeth Whitlock. He was reported to be 72 when he died in 1816, so he was a little younger than he thought!
