Halsor/Woods marriage Los Angeles

I am trying to locate the marriage of Berent Abrahamson Halsor and Constance Woods, probably in the mid to late 1930's.  They appear on the 1940 census, and on her naturalisation, as living at 826W 50th Place Los Angeles.

As he was divorced this possibly could have been a civil marriage.

According to the petition for naturalization of Constance Halsor - the couple were married 1-11- 40  Yuma Arizona
Written the US way that would be 11 January 1940.  US Census was taken April 1940.

Unfortunately my Constance was very fond of lying about her age and date/year of birth on almost every form she ever filled in, so I cannot be sure that this is her!

However I possibly can eliminate her as my family member if I can find another Constance Woods born in Illford, Essex.

The information you have so kindly found all relates to the Constance who married Berent Halsor.  I have sent it all on to the Halsor family for their family tree.

I was so hoping that she was my Constance, but unfortunately was not. My Constance was born in 1869/70 in Leamington, England, but deducted years from her age whenever she felt like it!  On various forms her year of birth varies from 1874/1875 to 1881/1882.  She obviously had a serious problem with ageing

Unfortunately all these lies means that it has been impossible to trace her death in, probably, Los Angeles.

Her mother was Margaret Bell and her father (a real scoundrel) was James Pontifex Woods. He was married a number of times and had children in England, South American, Spain and France. It would appear that some of his children were a bit confused about which country they were born in which does not help much either!
