Hiorns Warwick?
« on: Monday 12 December 16 15:28 GMT (UK) »
I have a Thomas Hiorns aged 50 living in Saltley, Birmingham in the 1891 census. He gives his birth place as Warwick, Warwick, but have struggled to find it although there are several possibilities and it may be a nearby village.
I need a second pair of eyes so if anyone can help I would be very appreciative.

Yes that was my dilemma KGarrad, I lean towards the Southam one as the Atherstone one on a quick check appears to have stayed in that area all his life while the Southam one may come under Warwick, will have to check that up.
Thanks for your interest, Rod

Hi
Does the family in 1891 include Agnes 1866, Charles A 1868 and Florence 1872,
living in Bordesley ? Can t find them in Saltley
If so Thomas and same family appear to be on the 1881 Census Rg11/3022 107/27 and Thomas' birthplace is Tachbrook, Warwickshire. Could be Bishops Tachbrook near Warwick/Leamington.
1871 census gives his pob as Leamington.

Rather then jump form 1891 census straight back to his birth, surely it is better to look one step at a time?  Where does he say he was born in 1881,1871,1861,1851 ?   Where are his family living in 1851 and then in 1841 ?  Is he on 1841? One of those possible births is before the census and one after .
I see Cath is following the same train of thought!
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

What was the name of his wife?

I'm not seeing the 1891 census?

Of course, in the early days of Civil Registration, not all births were registered! It was up to the Registrar to find and register the births. :-\

Ok, so possibly Thomas Hiorns aged 24 from Tachbrook who married Sarah Edwards aged 18 from The Hurst, Stoneleigh on 25th Nov 1861 in Stoneleigh.
Thomas' father Charles and Sarahs was John.
Having researched a Hirons/Hiorns name before the name seems to be interchangeable sometimes.
Needs to be checked out though as there are several possibilities
