I was just about to post a similar message -

Re BumbleB's note that Alice may have been Joseph's first wife, there is a marriage to match:-

To Alice Wood in 1814 - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NN8T-YX5

There are some baptisms in Glossop which tie in with the 1841 census:-

John - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NPWJ-ZXW

Sarah - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NPWJ-VZ9

George - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NTLP-QYD

Also a Joseph and Alice, but after the birth dates, plus a Mary and Betty.

There are some nonconformist baptisms which give the mother as Else (short for or misunderstood for Alice?), including Joseph Wood Bradbury in 1826.

He married as Joseph Wood Bradbury to Elizabeth Bowden in 1859 and gave his father as Joseph Bradbury a farmer.

FreeREG has the 1814 marriage at All Saints, Glossop - 1 August 1814.  Joseph is a bachelor, and Alice is a spinster.  Michael Ernill and James Higinbotom are witnesses.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The following are the nonconformist children of Joseph and Alice/Else/Eln/Elen

John - 27 Sep 1814

Lettice - 22 Jan 1816

Sarah - 19 Jun 1818

Thomas - 15 Mar 1820

James - 17 Mar 1822

Randle - 26 Oct 1823

Joseph Wood - 12 Dec 1826

William - 02 Apr 1828

George - 14 Jun 1830

Alice Hannah - 24 Aug 1835

The only one on the 1841 census who is missing, is Ann

In 1841, Randle and James are here - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7S5-ZLQ

1841, Lettice - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7S5-SRL

In 1851, Randle and Lettice/Lettica are here - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGB5-B55

Many Thanks.......   It is so much help to piece this family together!!!!

Especially for the baptism of the children....  I would never have work out that Alice could have been the "Else"

Now to get them all up to date in the database.....

Cheran 8)

Add:

I am wondering if I am getting 2 families mixed here
A a couple of conflicts at the moment though.......

John baptised 27 September 1814 dies 29 June 1820??? https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NPWJ-ZXW

and

George  2 dates......  14 June 1830 & 14 March 1829 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NTLP-QYD

and on family search

Joseph Wood Bradbury..... 12 December 1825...... not 1826??
Formerly Mill Brow Independent, Marple Bridge, Derby, England

I think I have found Letitia (Lettia) on the 1861 census with her sister Alice H. but family search have her mother as Elisabeth on the Stockport registration??? Alice Hannah is now married to Robert Collins (or Collier) (married 14 September 1857 Marriage is Collier and 2 daughters registration is Collier but Census has Collins).

*********
Joseph Wood Death 1883 buried Glossop and he had 2 boys....

Cheran ???

Cheran your right to question everything :)
Although it all looks correct there's no saying that it is.  ::)
There is an image of the baptism for John 27 September 1814 on Ancestry's Non Conformist registers
Parents Joseph and Alice. I can't make out the place of residence it looks like "Molly Woodend".
It could be Mellor but there is another entry on that page that clearly says Mellor so I'm not sure, perhaps someone else could take a look see what they think?
There is a John on the 1841 census and I did think that perhaps the first one had died and they named another son John but I can't find a baptism for a later child, plus allowing for the rounding down of ages on the 1841 census I'm not sure that it fits together.
I think that the George born 1830 is yours his birthplace is Mellor, again you can view the image on Ancestry
The other George born 1829 has birthplace Milltown so I think is unlikely but as I can't find  anything apart from his baptism who knows. :-\

Hollywood End is just to the north of Mill Brow.
