hi
I need a bit of advice I was a member of anc* and now I'm not but a hint has came up for England and wales national probate calender on my friends mothers name now I cannot get the info with not being a member and cannot find it on the government website either is there anywhere else I can look as her daughter wasn't aware there was a will

She may not have left a will, it could be that someone applied for administration of probate to settle her estate.

remember to change the date range at the top of the search to the correct date range

The site isn't indexed before 1996, but a search before 1996 will take you to the first of possible pages, you may have to scroll through several until you find the correct surnames and then change the year and search for at least 5 years before you give up.

Wilrob PM'd me a name and I have found the person for him on that site. The confusion was that probate wasn't applied for until over two years after the death, so was indexed in that year rather than the year of death.

For anyone else stumbling across this topic in the future, grants of representation are date recorded when they go through the probate courts and the grant issued, not the always the year of death.
