This might be of interest Keith, although slightly later than when your family were there. I see from David's baptism the mention of St Mary and Watton, so I guess they actually lived in Brecon.

Hi all, to finalize the story of David, can anyone locate the whereabouts of his mother Elizabeth after 1841, there were two burials in Brecon 1847 and 1851 for an Elizabeth Shepherd, but they were both spinsters and aged 21 & 23, no sign of a re-marriage in Brecon?

Also Mark/Elizabeth had another son who was with Joan Williams in 1841 census:-

Baptism Thomas Shepherd 16th April 1830 Brecon, St Mary Father Mark occ Inn Keeper Mother Elizabeth abode Watton Ward

Think this is Elizabeth in 1851, living in Watton ward again

Elizabeth Shepherd    50 - b Llywell, Trecastle washerwoman
James Davies    25 - son in law b Brecon
Jane Davies    22 - daughter b Brecon

This death might work

Excellent!

Burial 17th August 1857 Elizabeth Shepherd Widow Brecon, St John the Evangelist aged 57

Baptism Jane Shephard 9th January 1828 Brecon, St Mary Father Mark occ Inn Keeper Mother Elizabeth

Trying to work out the address that Elizabeth died at, something "Gate"

Mabel and Keyboard86,
More amazing sleuthing on my behalf...still wondering where the Inn was that the Williams/Shepherd family might have been running in the area at that time.
