Lost great grandmother
« on: Monday 16 January 17 01:40 GMT (UK) »
After a long absence from research, decided to look for my great grandmother  ???

Margaret Downs/Downes, born approx 1848 although this is debatable possibly Ashton under Lyne, although one again on the various census it is either Ashton or Hyde in Cheshire..so am not sure  ???

Fact - Married my g/grandfather in 1868 (Aaron Vaughan) witnesses Thomas and Joseph Vaughan, at St Michaels Parish Church, Ashton Under Lyne, her father's name was given as William Downs, occupation Grocer.

Cannot find anything on IGI (family search) BMD's, or any other place.

Have discontinued my membership with Ancestry (do not like their new format) and it's too damned expensive especially for a pensioner  ;D.

All the children have been accounted for, plus Margaret died in 1895 in Featherstone West Yorkshire, and my g/grandfather went on to have three more wives  ::).

Hope someone can give me a hand with this..time is running out  :o

Best wishes...patvp

West Yorkshire - Allott, Riley, Charlesworth, Barker, Harper, Rubery, Darlison, Vaughan.
