Are the photographs of the same person Joseph Knight?

The man on the far right of the group shot....is that the same person as in the portrait attached?

According to one source, all the people in the group are all women, putting on a show of some kind during WW1. I can't believe the one on the right is a woman!

Several are marked with a cross. I think they are members of my family - the bride is definitely my great-aunt and I think the man on the right is her uncle.

Any thoughts?

There is a good chance that it is the same person but a scan of you the man in the group photo would give a better idea.

There is a distinct chin cleft in one but not the other. I also wonder how far apart these photos are date-wise?

The chin cleft could be part of the theatrical makeup, couldn't it? I'm not sure when the seated photograph was taken, I'll see if I can find out.

The seated photograph is apparently the earlier one, taken in the early 1900s, the second was about fifteen years later. I am currently in touch with Joseph Knight's granddaughter but even she isn't sure. She thinks she recognises other family members in the group though, so it's all looking quite likely!

Sorry....I assumed that you had scanned the photos. I would agree with the date range and I also think the guy in the first photo has had some exaggerated facial hair.

Yes, probably - looking at it again it seems too dark to be a cleft shadow. Could it be another male in the back row?

My opinion
The person in the large photo is male.
What you see as a chin cleft, I see as the remaining dark bit of a white beard worn quite short The colour variation shows in the moustache too.
The clothes fit well, because they are his.
His left eye is an unusual shape

I would say he is the same chap as below.  I think there is something in the facial expression that is similar too.

Perhaps he is holding his invitation to the production

(Noting.  If I am wrong, and the person is female, she seems unmarried as her ring finger is bare)
