This is the only death matching his profile but it does not match with Alice's marriage.  Have you already investigated/discounted it?

William Parry 77 (1869) Date of Registration   Sep 1946  Newcastle under Lyme
Volume 9b Page   200

The Staffs 1911 has 2 other William Parry's in roughly the same age range but they were not living in the Newcastle under Lyme Registration District at that time

Yes we did get the certificate and check this death out but unfortunately it's not our William Parry.

When did Florence die and who reported her death?

Is she shown as a widow on the death cert?

If she is the 1936 death - that death was not registered in N under L

On the Staffordshire BMD website the 1936 death for Florence Parry was registered in Stoke on Trent and it states the sub district of Hartshill. Hartshill is only a mile or so from Newcastle under Lyme and there is quite a large cemetery in Harshill. Possibly (if this is your Florence), she could be buried there

Yes Florence is the 1936 death and she is described as a widow.  The death was reported by the husband of her daughter Alice May Pepper (nee Parry).

This is the right death.  We have confirmed Florence is buried in Newcastle under Lyme cemetery but we have found no record of William Parry there.  This makes us think William may have died and be buried elsewhere.

Regarding the 1946 death of William Parry. You have the certificate and have discounted it but on what grounds?
Reason I ask is that there is a will for that William Parry living at Porthill (not far from Newcastle-u-Lyme) and everything is left to Ethel Madew (wife of Thomas Jervis Madew). Is it possible that he and florence were separated and this is the daughter from his first marriage? You have probably checked this but I thought I would mention it.

Hi Zen Rabbit

Florence was William's first and only wife so far as we know.  They had two children Lily Gertrude (who died in infancy) and Alice May.  This William Parry was born in Staffordshire and was a colliery secretary/representative.  Both he and our William Parry appear as separate entries on the 1911 Census so they have to be different people.  Who would have thought there could be two William Parry's with similar birth years living in Staffordshire but there were.  Then again with the name being so common perhaps its not too unusual.
