hi rosie, trish & jacquelineve, you have really helped me with your replies so thank you very much.  sarah seems to have taken barry as her surname when her mother married and this foxed me a couple of years ago as sarah signed her marriage cert sarah barry apparently. I now know that harriet was single. the william vizard at her wedding was probably her grandfather. I didn't know harriets family or that sarah had brothers so that explains her naming her sons william & henry. she parted from mark shearn after the 1861 census and went back to her parents with the youngest children. after mark died she married albert masters was widowed again and married arthur curtis. thanks again Ann
