For Elizabeth Behm it says
21st March 1904 Kennedy Ct 9 mo
child Charles George with Mrs Burns 114 Westmoreland Road Old Kent Road (paid for by Samuel ?)
30 Craven Terrace Lancaster Gate 9 mo
42 St James St Picadilly 2 years
another address

and Mary
Mary Behan, exam 83594, admitted 27th October 1902
born 11th Feby 1872 in County Wexford, Ireland father John Behan
She was a Cook, living in Kennedy Place Pregnant, Destitute
Single Gave birth to daughter Mary Behan, 3rd Decr 1902
another daughter Kathleen
30 + 31 Craven Terrace Lancaster Gate 7 mo
72 St James Street Piccadilly 3 years
Given the timescales might they have been at St James St, Piccadilly for the 1901 census then? Perhaps we could find the errant Samuel??

"Paid for by its father Samuel Gilesby (?) French Waiter"

I'm wondering whether Samuel isn't the father?  Perhaps the George Behm is fictional, to try and cover up?  Is there anything further about Samuel that one could trace?

I'd still love to trace Elizabeth's history back to Germany...

I don't think it actually says the French Waiter chap was Charles Behm's father. Although I'm not sure why he would be paying for him otherwise! Nor can I be sure if I even have his name right.
Have you seen the exams now that ancestry is having it's free weekend for UK records?

This is great - thanks John!  So it seems that Elizabeth was possibly single.  The information is very informative.  Do you perhaps have any other such links?  I wonder whether Charles George Henry
Behm ever really left England?  Did he perhaps attend Workhouse school and only later attend the school at St Knightsbridge?

Is there any way to re-trace Elizabeth's footsteps prior to being admitted to the French Hospital?
