Marriage record - Jessie Melhuish to William H Crocker ~1885

Jessie Melhuish born 1862 North Tawton daughter of Robert & Elizabeth.

On 1871 & 1881 censuses living with family.

On 1891 & 1901 censuses living in Stmarychurch with husband William H Crocker.

On 1911 census as "visitor" at house of C. Saunders in Hatherleigh - she is widow now.

Jessie & William would have married sometime 1881-1891 but I cannot find their marriage record anywhere... can anyone find it?

Do you have William's death certificate? It might give some sort of clue as to whether or not they were married

From my database                                                                                                          CROCKER   William Henry   was buried:-   06 January 1909   age:-   44   notes/address:-   Newton Union   where:-   St Marychurch

Newton Union normally means the Newton Union Workhouse.

There does not seem to be a grave stone.

No sign of a Jessie Crocker nor Jessie Melhuish in St Marychurch nor in Torquay Cemetery
I see the 1901 census has William & Jessie living as man & wife at 2 Petitor Road, St Marychurch.
In 1891 again as man & wife living in Hartop Road.
I can't find a marriage either.

Could the Jessie be a Blackmore. I have found a stepson called Jessie Blackmore in my Crocker side. Mine is still a WIP.
