It's been down for a few days. I emailed the technical help address but my email bounced back.

When did they change this. I used it on the 19th and it was functioning as usual. :o :o

Added:

and I can't say I like this new format,  it is going to make it even more difficult for folk who had problems with the original format to find anything!!!!!

I'd never heard of the site (well I'd never really looked) but just typed in a name out of curiousity and got a result for a South African Constabulary conduct and service record.

But there's no indication of if and how I can view the details of the record - only contact details for the National Archives Repository.

Is it worth emailing them and asking?

Yes - I've found them very helpful in the past.

It depends on which archive you will be contacting.  The Pietermaritzburg one is usually very helpful but the one in Pretoria has sent me an email with a list of private researchers telling me to contact one of them.

You could try www.eggsa.org they have a document ordering service with very reasonable rates.  The information is on their site.  The only one they can't do is the Cape Town one they do their own.

With the details from Kiltpin, I managed to get on to the site and was asked to register. However, They cannot e-mail the password to me and my request is pending.! I suppose they can only do things in office hours.
Some interesting articles on their page about the new look site.
