Only his medal records seem to have survived the second war bombing.  These don't have personal info.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

You maybe lucky RHG were part of Household Cavalry and their records weren't burned in the Blitz they will be held in national Archives in London.Think it costs £30 to access.

Having looked on the search site though it appears they aren't all there and your man doesn't appear be listed

I can't see him listed though so may be incomplete the Household Cavalry Archives maybe able to shed more light.I searched the archive list using the medal rolls on Ancestry... the guy listed after your man McKerrow isn't on the NA site too so maybe they aren't all survived.

Ady -  thank you for adding to my meagre knowledge store.  I knew about the Foot Guards, hadn't thought about the Cavalry.

Southwinds - sorry to mislead you.  However, I've looked at the appropriate series within WO 400 for his name, with no luck, and for his number, also without success.  Here are the  men with number 1065 in the cavalry records http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_ep=1065&_cr=WO%20400&_dss=range&_ro=any&_st=adv

Not sure where now?  Perhaps someone could scour WO 400 Series Royal Horse Guards Series three for you to see if his name has been missed off the catalogue?
