Hi no sadly he died before I was born, he was born in 1894 in Harlesden and married Grace Emily Hermitage in1919. His name was George Herbert Richard Iley and he served in WW1 and was an acting serrgeant at 1 point I believe he was in the A.C.P regiment which meant he dealt with wages etc

Some random thoughts:-

Ancestry's railway registers don't cover all the companies. It has some digitised railway company magazines.

Local directories usually listed station masters, but to look at them you'll have to go to Ealing Local History Centre.

Station masters had a high status locally and he may be mentioned in a local newspaper (e.g. on retirement). The big newspaper digitisation project seems to be giving London a wide berth, so again you'll need to go to Ealing Library.

I suggest a brief e-mail to them with his name and dates and asking what they might have. They won't do any research for free, though they may do a quick lookup in a 1939 directory and solve the "which company?" question.
Researching Penge, Anerley, (including the Crystal Palace) and neighbouring parts of Beckenham, currently in London (Bromley), formerly Surrey and/or Kent.

Looking at the free index to the 1939 National Register, George H Iley is in Acton Metropolitan Borough.
Also there is Grace E Iley +1 other.

You need to pay to see the details.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

That's interesting thank you for that info I'll try that!

Yes that's right the 1 other is Grace's younger brother who was living with them during the war as the children had been evacuated at the time.

Just a couple more ideas...

FindMyPast have trade union membership records, which you can filter by trade (ie Railway Workers). They don't include many details but do include age (at admission and date), grade (ie occupation) and railway.

Ancestory have London electoral registers which may help pinpoint his whereabouts over the years to cross check with other records you may find.

The union records include a George Iley, saying he was admitted (to the union) 8/7/10 age 16. It has his grade down as "B.Clerk" which I took to mean booking clerk. He was with the Shepherds Bush Branch and under "Railway" (company) it says G.N.P. & B., which is Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway, which is the part of the Piccadilly tube line from Hammersmith to Finsbury Park.
