Good effort folks!    ;)

. . . . trouble is . . .  if it is out of focus to start with, it is always going to be out of focus, even though the scanning is at a high resolution!  Sad when you find an old photo, then it is out of focus, isn't it.

Just had a bit of fun trying to make the boy a bit clearer as he seems to be least out of focus.  I haven't managed much I'm afraid.   :-\

Sometimes you can increase the contrast a little here and there to give an impression of a sharper image, but some are just too bad. This photo is a little weird as some bits are more or less in focus, whilst other bits are miles out. The (daisies ?) appear to have a 'zoom' effect and I did wonder if the photographer was on a swing at the time  ;D ;D

Your pic of the lad is quite nice... a little poignant, I thought.

I also noticed the odd effect of some bits being in focus - wondered if it had been scanned while in a frame  - though how it could be quite so damaged in a frame I couldn't imagine.  Odd how one of his arms is more in focus that the other - maybe he moved it  -  He just snatched his hand away from Grandma, whose hands are almost in focus.  ;)

I thought the boy looked as if he didn't want to be touched by either his mum or grandma and just wanted to take his 'piece'/school lunch and head for school!  ;)  ;D

(Don't you just love making up stories about some of the pictures put up?)

Nice interpretation with the boy Wiggy,  :)

I wondered if the women moved their heads to see what the boy was up to.  :)

Although there was some movement, I think what most likely occurred here was at the amateur  printing stage. If the neg was not held perfectly flat, the heat from the lamp that was used to expose the neg to the paper would cause the neg to 'pop' (distort) during the exposure......Now....if only we had the negs.... ;D
