I'll see if there's anymore info for you Henry.

I don't think Christian would have gone back to Germany after the war, as he had resided in the UK since 1892, & probably thought of the UK as his home.

Christian married in 1898 to Mary Dixon. Mary was English & from Bewcastle.
The 7 children were English born also, which makes Christians 4 year internment, at the age of 42, seem very harsh in todays climate.

Hi again,

I hope you are well. Just to ask do you have anymore information about the family during the conflict, how they survived, and the support from salvation army? Don't worry if not. Anything you can find would be greatly appreciated. If you like I can send some info on the camp.

All the best,

Henry

Hi Henry

We're not sure how further we can go, as other Family members hired genealogists, & came back with what we already know.

I may contact the Salvation Army in Lancaster, and see how far back their records go.

I would be very interested to see any details on the internment camp, that would be great

Best Regards

John

As I can not see my previous post I will try again
I am stuck with Ivor Noel Blake, born 25/12/12 in Hull.
He came back from Australia in 1932 travelling with George E Blake aged 59 a Decorator from 2 South View, Queens Street, Withernsea. who I presume was his father, so I then start looking for George Blake b1872c no trace, no marriage, nothing other than a headstone for the Hohenrein family with the Blakes on it ??  So I started looking for Ivor N Hohenrein and found a match, so went to father George and he was a Hohenrein too.  Now on his marriage to Rosetta Fry in 1895 it says that Georges father is a George Frederick Hohenrein a Butcher, so he is the one you have mentioned on here, but you all say he only had 2 sons Charles and William, well I think George is another one but he was a Decorator ??
Am I right or on the wrong track ?

Hi there,

I wondered if anyone knew about the Mogerleys in Carlisle? My German grandfather was interned in Ireland and the Isle of Man. His cousins owned Mogerleys in Dumfries (taken over by the Littles in the 70s.)

Many thanks

Barbara Mogerley
