I think the will may be the only way, you can get it from here for £10

I can't find her in the 1939 register either  so unless she died before that, it could be that Dorothy remarried or maybe moved in with someone and called herself by their name and that's why we can't find a death either. Or perhaps she went abroad.

Well I've bitten the bullet and ordered her mother's Will so we will see-sometime in April according to the Will service.
Thank you all for your help.

I've alway found they are ready much sooner than they say, usually about a week. Please let us know what it says and we can go from there.

Have the Will now but she left her property to her sons and bequests of money to her grandchildren, Dorothy isn't mentioned. However I found her recorded as a witness at her brother's wedding in 1908 as Sarah Jane Dorothy Adams.

Can I just check, have you got the marriage certificate for Dorothy and Walter Relf - are you 100% sure that it is the right person? I still find it strange that she returned to Brighton when her family remained in Wiltshire.

1911 census seems to be the last confirmed record of Dorothy then aged 23.

1922 Possible marriage.  Dorothy would have been 34.

1941 Date of mother's will.  Mother gave land to her sons, money to her grandchildren and nothing to her daughters.

Are the grandchildren mentioned by name?

Given that she signed Sarah Jane Dorothy Adams when she witnessed her brother's wedding.  I would assume that was the name she used for any official purpose including her own marriage certificate - if she married.

Don't know how deeply you want to go into this, but possibly/probably her father left a will.

I am not going any further into it, she was my 5th cousin, twice removed and I was interested to know what happened to her particularly as we found no birth record for her. Looks like she  will remain an enigma until someone of her family turns up with more information?
