Hi Debbles,

Just out of interest, what was William's trade stated as being on the marriage certificate? Was it a Painter (Journeyman) by any chance?

Father's Name William Lloyd Father's occupation Bricklayer
Married after Banns by George Read
Both William and Sarah signed
Witnesses Edward Lloyd and Jane Rutter (made her mark)

Thanks for getting back to me.

Not sure if it's linked to mine, but I'm trying to establish where my William Alexander disappeared to.

His daughter Sarah Alexander, was born in February 1866 in Liverpool. Sarah's mother was Elizabeth Alexander (nee Pearson). Then, on the 1871 Liverpool Census, Elizabeth is listed as a widow, and there's no sign of William.

However, while there are a number of deaths for William Alexander's across the country between 1866 and 1871, none seem to jump out in terms of age etc.

Just trying to see whether he might have left Elizabeth and remarried, hence, perhaps she's declared herself as a widow on the next census.

However, my 1858 marriage certificate for William and Elizabeth, states that his father was a John Alexander, who was a Gilder.

So perhaps not....!!
