John Timms born 16.03.1890 c 07.05.1890 St Clements Salford
« on: Tuesday 28 March 17 16:20 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me with regards to John Timms as above.

He is on the 1891 census at 78 Melbourne Street Salford with his parents James and Isabella he is age 1.  Also on the census is my grandmother Annie G aged 8.  RG12/3227 63 page 16

1901 census he is living at 75 Melbourne Street Salford with his father James and brothers George aged 19 and Thomas 8. RG13/3735 287 pg 46

Then I have been unable to find anything for him.  Both his elder brother George H and Thomas Timms served in the 1st World War the latter being killed in Action.  But John Timms can't find him.

On the 1911 census his father James, his uncle William and his brother Thomas are living in lodgings on Deansgate Manchester but no John.

Anyone any ideas as to where he was any information would be good.

Thanks again for past help

Eileen

Bit of a longshot

There is a passenger entry for a John Timms aged 18 - labourer - departing Liverpool 8.3.1906 for Philadelphia but the entry has a line through it which may mean he never sailed

Your John would only have been 16 at that time but I checked freebmd and there is no John Timms birth 1887-1888

Nothing on the 1910 US census

Thanks for that Carole.

This guy is worse than the Scarlet Pimpernel.  I found some possibilities a couple of workhouse admissions on the LDS but they don't give details and also a military service record which says he was resident in Wigan right age though  I know he had relatives in that area but again not sure as the LDS don't give any information.

I like your long shot though a great possibility

Thanks again for your help

This record hasn't got a line through it

John Timms aged 18 left Liverpool 8 Mar 1906 for Philadelphia aboard the Pretorian

Thanks for your help.

I have now been able to eliminate the John Timms who married Marcelline as he was from Madeley Shropshire.

He was only 10 when his mother died 1900.  He just seems to disappear after the 1901 census.  I have found the rest of the family for 1911 but not him.  Could he have gone into care/workhouse?  There was workhouse admissions in Manchester for a John Timms 1907/1908 on the LDS but no details.  Did he serve his country in WW1? Both his brothers did.

 ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
