The sleeves were the give away, but didn't some of the pigeon breasted have wider sleeves but full all the way to wrist  - not got my book handy so from memory.

That's correct but these style of sleeves were looser & less pronounced than the Gigot.

Poor Polly may have ended up as part of the decoration. Edwardian ladies were fond of putting bits of dead animals on their hats.

Yes , I must admit to having  always felt repulsed by their obsession with using dead animals and the love of taxidermy.
