The birth dates are ... 1867 for him and 1865 for her.

I think the two pictures show the same man.

But from long exposure to the clothing experts on this page, I know that the pigeon fronted blouse and skirt combo is into the 20th Century, and up to 1909 as Gadget says.

So possibly not the family you're thinking of?

I certainly see a strong resemblance between the two photos. Some non-photographic evidence should support whether this is exactly the same man or a different family member.

Being a bit of a nerd, I ran the photos through two different 'photo recognition' websites. Just out of curiosity.

https://www.twinsornot.net/ gave a 52% match.

http://www.pictriev.com on the other hand gave a 90% similarity.

1st. pic 1870's but to narrow it down we need to see the back & the outer edges.
Pic. 2 Gadget was right first time mid-late 1890's.
Could be same man around 20 years older.

Here are the re-scanned photos showing front and back.  Sorry Jim .. I omitted to post the back view earlier. Thank you everyone who has commented .. it certainly gives me food for thought.  Thank you Mike Morrell for being so thorough with your detective work .. lol  I didn't know those sites existed!
Igor .. you have certainly had me thinking about the attire of the woman in the photo .. I will do some investigating into that pigeon fronted blouse.

Just one more question if I may ... What age would you say the man holding the baby is approx.?

A little bit later than first estimated. Although the backdrop & card style are typical of the late 1870's the Marion Imp Paris name has an early 1880's date code. I can't quite make out what it is exactly as it's a bit fuzzy but certainly early 1880's.

The woman in pic. 2 isn't wearing a "pigeon breast" blouse. They were completely different to this.
She wearing a bodice with large Gigot sleeves making it late 1890's.
Pigeon breast blouses didn't arrive until after the start of the century.

Glad you came on and repeated your dates from yesterday, Jim.  I was wondering how cosmo had jumped to the pigeon breasted from your earlier reply:
