Come in Johnathon Bayley
« on: Monday 10 April 17 11:49 BST (UK) »
Hi
Anyone up for a challenge?
Can anyone find Johnathon Bayley born 1884 Wednesbury/Darlaston after the 1901 census in West Bromwich?
His parents are both dead, his sister Martha is dead and his sister Lizzie is working as a servant in the area but no sign of Johnathon after 1901.

Any ideas appreciated.
ps the family are indexed as Vaughan on the 1891 census on A* because two households are run together.

Good Morning
Yes I know 1911 census searches aren't allowed.I'd already had a look and assumed he'd gone abroad or died.
I was hoping someone would spot a death I hadn't seen ,perhaps in World War I when he could have died overseas and not been in the bmd indexes.
A service record and medals ,that sort of thing. It never occurred to me to think about the 1911 census as I just assumed he wasn't on there for some reason.I know many orphans join the forces after leaving the Workhouse etc and I thought that is what happened to him or maybe he migrated to Canada or the US.
Nor to be honest did I think of looking for a John Bailey/Bayley but now that Jackie has kindly taken the time to have a look and made that suggestion I have a new clue to follow up.

Thank you Jackie!

Thank you Carole

Just in case he died in WW1 have you checked www.cwgc.org?

If he died in England from 1969 onwards his full birthdate will be on his death reg but he would have been 85+ by then so the chances are not great

Where did you get the spellings for his names, as this looks like his birth?

Births June quarter 1884  Jonathan Bailey  W. Bromwich.

Added:  mmn Small from GRO

He had an older brother of the same name, who died.
