John Watts & Martha Daniel brick wall

Hi,

I've hit a brick wall attempting to uncover any details on my ancestors John Watts & Martha Daniel.

This is all I have:

8 Feb 1786 Trowbridge, St James church
John Watts Bachelor (wool picker)
&
Martha Danial Spinster
Both of this parish
by banns   
Witness 1. Thomas Tyrrel (church)
Witness 2. Henry Nightengal (church)

I thought I may have found Martha Daniel bapt' 1765 Rushall but then found a burial for her 1785 Rushall (daughter of George).

I've no idea and have checked the FindMyPast website for suitable Bapts' but I can't find any. The only other interesting information was that their two daughters were bapt as adults (over 18yrs old) at St James church, Trowbridge. Their daughter Mary married a soldier in Trowbridge, St James church.

I know it's a long shot but any ideas on the parents of John & Martha?

Martha Daniel born 17/11/1765 appears to have at least two brothers, William Daniel baptised 15/3/1751 and John Daniel baptised 24/4/1768 both in Rushall. Parents were George and Sarah. There is a marriage for a George Daniel and a Sarah Hodge 1/10/1749, which might be them. There is also a burial for a Sarah Daniel 23/8/1780 Rushall.

Many thanks for replying to my thread.

I found the Martha mentioned and thought that this was the correct one but recently found a burial for Martha Daniel:

Martha Daniel
Burial date:14 Sep 1784
Place: Rushall, Wiltshire
Next of kin: Daughter of George Daniel

The above seems most likely to be the Martha you mentioned.

The records on FindMyPast are from Wiltshire Family History Society and are not complete as they have not transcribed all the parishes. Digital copies of the originals are due on Ancestry later this year in conjunction with the Wiltshire and Swindon Heritage Centre which at the very least should be more complete.

Surely too much of a coincidence.

Susannah Daniel and Richard Reynolds 1.9.1785
wit Thomas Tyrell and Isaac Chamberlain.

William Daniel and Jane Mappet 28.3.1796
wit William Bailey and William Nightingale

It looks like 4 siblings for Daniel and 2 Watts.

There's a Jeremiah Watts s of Samuel born 14.6.1758 bapt 10.8.1760 at Dilton which might be worth looking at.

ps there's a family tree on Ancestry for Jeremiah with a birth 11.2. 1745 at Corsley s of William and Ann  nee Annice ,amongst other children John born 1742.
Seems a bit early but thought you should know.
wife Sarah Daniel in as born  29.6. 1748 Trowbridge  d of Samuel Daniel and Mary Westel

The Daniels do look more likely as Samuel and his various wives.
