Place name help please..

Im hoping to get some thoughts on this place name used in a will for 1800. It reads I leave to my brother Thomas of ????? in Yorkshire..

the only place I could think of is Knaresborough?

any help would be great

the end also looks as though it says berry or burry  ::)

If not, Knaresborough sounds feasible, especially if the will was written outside Yorkshire by someone unfamiliar with Yorkshire place-names.

thats how Im seeing it too... the lady whose will it is, is from Yorkshire herself although the will was taken in London where she moved to.... I have to admit ive been looking at genuki for a while now and nothing seems to be leaping out at me. I thought it best to post it incase Ive just got myself stuck on Knaresborough!  Glad you can see it too....

ooo thats a good shout!

The family are from Otley in West Riding but if you can get to London then why not Risby, East Riding?

Im actually trying to find a burial for this brother of hers but the only one that fits so far is back in their home town of Otley ???

As there are different views about whether the initial letter is N or R, could you please post any other examples that you can find showing these two capital letters, for comparison?
