This is the list of Liverpool records you should get from searching for Liverpool [England, Lancashire, Liverpool] in Catalog:-

https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&placeId=15297&query=%2Bplace%3A%22England%2C%20Lancashire%2C%20Liverpool%22

You can then click on Church records and look through all the titles. Some churches can appear more than once perhaps that's where you are going wrong? Using links is easier. Once records have been found you can access them through the direct link. There's no need to go via Catalog and find them all over again. All my links are on this thread:-

Thanks for your patience
I think I have to make a document with all these instructions. It is quite difficult when I don't know where to start.

Came across your chat and noticed with interest that the marriage record you were researching was witnessed by my Gr Grandparents James Bushell TAYLOR and Mary TAYLOR (nee O'TOOLE). He was a Chimney Sweep in Toxteth and was 19 years old and married himself earlier that year. I don't know what connection they had with your Richard SMITH who was listed as a Pavior (paving stone layer?).

I hope you obtained the copy of the record. I have access to it via Ancestry.com.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
My Grandpa, James Bushell's son, emigrated to Western Australia in 1908 at age 18.
His former home was 2 Lime Grove, Toxteth and he used to talk about 'going for a country walk around the docks!"
Regards
Geoff
