Deaths In Aylesbury Prison
« on: Wednesday 28 July 04 14:40 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Can anyone help a stranger to Buckinghamshire?
Would a person dying in Aylesbury Prison have been buried within the prison walls or was there a specific area nominated in a nearby church or cemetery? The person in question was recorded as a convict at Aylebury Prison on the 1901 census aged 71, and their crime was such that a release was not imminent. They were not born in Bucks.
Secondly, there is a fascinating link to on-line admission records for Aylesbury Prison for the 1870's, does anyone know if this date is likely to be extended?
Odessa from Cheshire.

Hi Frances,
Yes, it has a searchable database with images at http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/bucks_prisoners/index.htm
At present only the 1870's have been completed and I just wondered if the project was being extended, and if local researchers might know.
I am keen to track down an admission record somewhere between 1896-1901.
Thanks,
odessa.
