Yes. Two different Samuels.

I am trying to ascertain the death of his wife Mary (nee Roberts, married 1825) - he married Sarah Gaskell in 1841.

The other was married to a Mary as well but she was a Mary Russell (Mary Russell was born Mary Barrow). So two generations difference.

in view of where Samuel was living in 1841 could this be Mary's death (sorry I put Prestwich but it was actually Pilkington)

Wasn't it John Barrow though who married Mary Russell whose mother was Alice Barrow?

I know you wrote that William Russell married Alice Barrow and then their daughter, Mary married John Barrow whose father was Samuel born c 1804, a Boiler Maker.

I was puzzled as there are references to Samuel, a tailor, and Samuel, a boiler maker, earlier in the thread.

I will order the death certificate for Mary to hopefully prove one way or another.

I'm sure there will be further queries as I am dealing with the direct Barrow line which seems to be quite prevalent in Bolton in 18th and 19th centuries.
