1861 census a Thomas Swinnerton /Swinnington
« on: Friday 09 June 17 16:23 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I have been informed that in the 1861 census a Thomas Swinnerton /Swinnington
is listed as born Tamworth age 52 Occupation Bricklayer.,but named as Simmington.
Can anyone see this ?

In the 1871 ad 1881 census he is shown as born Litchfield but he was a patient in the Burntwood Lunatic Asylum.  But not sure under which name spelling.

Any info would be appreciated.
bswinno.

Yes that's Thomas with his second wife Sarah. She died in the same year. I have been looking at the older posts about Burntwood Asylum. There does not appear to be any records online.

given his location in 1861, might this be an option for a death?

Mabel,

Are there any more  Burntwood details on An*****y ?
What you have found is fantastic. The last Thomas 1865 I think is another Thomas.
Would you think that he would be buried at Burtwood?

That's all that was on Ancestry - but as I mentioned the Burntwood chap was b c1835, so is not likely to be the person you are looking for

The 1865 death fits his 1861 location and age
