family trace
« on: Thursday 15 June 17 00:04 BST (UK) »
Hi.  I am trying to trace any family related to Rose Caines.  I believe she had two sisters, one of whom died before birth.  The other was called Mary Moses nee Brown.  They lived in St Kitts in the West Indies, during the 1800s.

Mary Moses lived in Main Street Dieppe Bay and was known as Meme or Mem Brown.  She lived until 104.  Rose Caines moved to Aruba then to the UK in the 1960s and lived here until her death about 2014.

I am trying to compose a family tree and working on my mother's side of the family.

Thanks. or M

Welcome to rootschat Aruba.

Rose's death certificate it should/may contain useful information such as parent's names, which will take you back a generation. Perhaps a family member may have a copy of it?

Was Rose born in the West Indies?

If Rose keep her Caines surname you may be able to find her on UK electoral registers.

An English death certificate doesn't contain parents names but the informant's name might be helpful.

If you don't have a death certificate, I can obtain the reference details from the Archives next time I visit and then you can order it from www.gro.gov.uk

There is probate for a Rose Mary Caines in 2015 (death 1st May 2015), but could be of any age.

If Rose lived in St Kitts in the 1800's and died in 2014, are you suggesting she was at least 115 when she died?

Presumably Rose was born as Rose Brown, so do you have any information on her husband?

There are 2 possible death entries

Rose Evangeline Caines born 1907 died 2014 in Leeds

or

Rose Mary Caines born 1921 died 2015 in Dorset.

I have the full details for both if you need either of them.

I believe her name was Rose Evangeline Caines who died in Leeds in 2014.  I can't get her birth certificate as I am her great niece.  I am doing this as a surprise for Rose;s daughter Eldica Henry
who is now in her late 80s.  Rose was born in the early 1900s and died abut aged 106.
