The 1841 census just lists whether the individual is born in County i.e. Glamorgan or not, so Yes or No.
There are 4 possibles for your John Phillips on the 1841,

District Neath,  Britton Ferry Parish
1421/04
GiantsGrave. John Farmer, 25, Bankman, and Margaret Philllips and Thomas.

District Cardiff, 14 Garth Hamlet
1420/11 folio 12
John Phillips, 26, Miner with him is  William Rees 32. Miner

All of these were born in County. Hope that helps , if one is yours let me know and I will post the full information

The John Phillips I am looking for was married to an Elisabeth.  If you have the names of the children of this John that would help a lot.  Thanks so much for taking the time to look up my request.

Thank you so much.  I think this  very well might be the Phillips I am looking for - the names are right anyway.  The dates are close.  In the later censuses I have Mary is older than Elizabeth but so far haven't found too many women being totally truthful about their age as they get older.

Now to figure out where they were hiding in 1851 and 1861.
