John Allan - Christine Henderson

I would be very grateful if someone could look up the marriage of John Allan to Christine Henderson, which I believe took place on 9 September 1762 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

I am trying to establish John's age at the date of his marriage and also the names of his parents.

I found the wedding as quoted, found a birth- John Allen 3 Dec 1732 Larbert Stirling father John Allen mother Jean Walker Allan, there was one other birth John Allane 9 Jan 1732 Bothkennar Stirling parents William Allane- Margaret Hanna

Presumably the marriage entry indicates that John was born in 1732 - perhaps you could confirm.

If this is the case I will need to find a way of determining which of the 2 possibilities is the birth entry for 'my' John Allan.

No there were no details, it was just an educated guess there were at least 12 but only two for Stirling. Why don't you order the marriage certificate?

NB As this (1762) is almost 100 years before the start of statutory registration, there is no such thing as a marriage certificate. This reference is to the record of banns or marriage in the Church of Scotland parish register. You might, if you are lucky, get their residence at the time of marriage, and if you are very, very lucky you might get the name of the father of one of them. You won't get the couple's ages.
