Hi Jamjar

Thank you for the link to a Martin's christening.   However I'm not sure who this one is.  The Martin that I am researching was born about 1861, this one is 1831.

Martin's father Christian would have been born around 1831/32.

Silly me, I didn't take note of the dates. ::) Maybe there will turn out to be a connection.  ;)

I phoned the Gold Coast Council this morn, re burial for Martin at Pimpama. Turns out that although they have records for Pimpama Cemetery, they do not have them for Pimpama Island Cemetery. It is privately owned.

The chap gave me the name and phone number of the caretaker. I phoned, no answer and left a message with my number. Have not had a returned call.

Ok Jamjar, you'll have to wait and see if you get any response from Pimpama Island Cemetery.

I take it there was no newspaper announcement of any kind regarding Martin then.

Hi,

The funeral notice for Annie Norris Eichmann appeared in the Courier Mail Saturday 3rd October 1953, page 16.

The notice mentions names of persons who may be still living so I wont post it here.

Annie was buried at the Nundah Historic Cemetery in Brisbane.

From FamilySearch, Germany, Prussia, Brandenburg and Posen Church Book Duplicates 1794-1894.

Martin Friedrich EICKMANN.
Birth, 6th March 1861.
Greiffenberg, Greiffenberg, Angermünde, Brandenburg, Germany
Father, Christian EICKMANN
Mother Wilhelmine BRAUN.

The actual document can be viewed and has more information than the transcription on FamilySearch film 1334994, digital folder, 004110880, image 148, Deutschland, Preußen, Brandenburg und Posen, Kirchenbuchduplikate 1794-1874.

Note the spelling of EICKMANN.

If you go onto the FamilySearch site and search in Germany for Martin Friedrich EICKMANN his birth should come up on the first page at number 5 (it does for me) and you can see the transcription and the original document in German.

Lovely, thanks for the info Gerry, should have thought about mis-spellling of the surname.

May want to consider contacting the Logan River and District Family History Society Inc they may be able to help with info on Martin.

They appear to hold a lot of resources relating to the area and in the Library Catalogue under family histories I can see that they have a folder on Christian Eichmann in their collection so they have some information on the Eichmann family.
