Gerry

Why can't I find the below on the Queensland historical deaths index?

Don't know the place of death as yet but he died on 16th Feb 1893, Qld Registration 1893/C2637.

Every time I put the name in and the year I get this:-

Please check your information.

There are no records that match your query terms.

So what am I doing wrong?

England: Devon, London, New Zealand
Holdway: Wiltshire

Ok, try this.

Get the Qld BDM site up, historical deaths.

https://www.bdm.qld.gov.au/IndexSearch/queryEntry.m?type=deaths

Under search deaths

Enter Martin only in the first names and leave the last name blank then enter the exact death date of 16/02/1893 and hit enter. (Any other date will come up red and fail)

The Indexed Registration should come up as 1893 C/2637 (C being a country registration)

I got the original death date from a subscription genealogical site.

Hi Gerry

It still doesn't work, still says there are no records to match my query terms.

Is there any other way that I may be able to obtain the cert bearing in mind that I am in the UK?

I'm a tad confused. You don't need the date to get the cert.

1893   C2637 Martin Friedrich Eichmann Christian Eichmann Minnie Brown

In search on the QLDBDM just enter Martin Eichmann with date range 1893-1893

It comes up and you can hit the ORDER button to purchase online image, which you then download. Cost AU$20.70

Tip  ;D

From a posting on your thread actually copy and paste the surname and given name into the right boxes.

Embarrassingly I have more than once  been frustrated by situations like yours (Won't come up for me"!) and it was a spelling error in the name which I just could not see :P

Great that you finally have the record.

The Parchert family arrived on the "BEAUSITE" on 5th September 1863 from Hamburg.

Frederich Parchert, 32.
Albertina, Parchert, 30,
Carl Parchert, infant.

There were 508 German immigrants on board.

The "La Rochelle" had arrived in the August with the Eichmann family.

Thanks very much for that tip Sparrett.

Jamjar now have the cert - Martin was buried on 17 February 1893 at Pimpama Island Cemetery and it looks like the undertaker was an Emil Lohrisch.

Cause of death appears to be phthisis or TB, just 32 years old.  Two children mentioned who are Rudolph Martin and Helene Augusta.

Just wish UK certs would be as informative as your Australian ones are.

The 1892 Post Office Directory has E. Lohrisch, carpenter at Beenleigh.

It wasn't unusual for carpenters to take on undertaker duties as well
