Twins on different dates?
« on: Sunday 02 July 17 22:47 BST (UK) »
My 3rd Gt Grandparents had children George and Everdon born in 1812. But when i look at the image below it states that one was born in Jan 1812 and one was born in Feb 1812  although both were baptised on the same day!!

Just a 'typo' by the person filling in the form do you think or do i need stronger glasses?  poli

Probably they were born on either side of midnight, it is not that unusual.

Must be a typo - I've never heard of twins being born a month apart! Perhaps one was born before midnight on the 21st January and the other a few hours later on 22nd.

One born 22 Feb. & other born 21 Jan. so there are probably 2 possibilities-
1) both born same date or 21/22 Jan. or February
2) years are incorrect- one born 1811 and other 1812 perhaps

Do you have them in any censuses to check year of birth?

Twins can be born not just minutes/hours apart but weeks or months apart & in different years not just different days  :D

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2947356/Mother-gives-birth-twin-girls-nearly-two-MONTHS-apart-contractions-stopped-child.html

There's many more cases of twins/multiple births being born apart (online).

That does say it is extremely rare though and it was 100 years after the date we are talking about. I wouldn't think in 1812 that medical care would have been good enough and that either mother, babies or both would have died.

I missed the different months, I suspect that was an error and they should both be either January or February.

Thanks for the replies,

I realise that twins can be born either side of midnight on 2 separate days but these two have a whole 'months' difference.

I am checking through the census years but the 1841 already looks 'iffy' on a couple of the childrens
ages, will do some further searches. Must be a mistake by the person filling in the info. ::) poli
