PARISH BAPTISM - HEATON NORRIS, STOCKPORT - BANKS

I am searching for a WILLIAM BANKS Birth  -   Born c1832.

I believe he may have been born in Heaton Norris, Stockport where rest of his
family came from.

I have taken his age from Marriage Certificate and Census.

His Father was also WILLIAM BANKS - I have no idea of his Mother.  Without his parents names I am lost.

William "Adopted" my Gt:Grandmother Elizabeth Hannah Banks born on 1st January 1857 to Jane Boome/s Banks.   Elizabeth Hannah was bought up by William and Elizabeth Furness - they married in Westminster, London in 1857.  Someone checked the London Archives for me but they found nothing!.

Did William bring the baby to London from Heaton Norris, Stockport?  All my Banks
family came from there too.

William and his wife never told Elizabeth Hannah the truth - she is also down on
all Census as being born in Westminster although I have her Birth Certificate for
Heaton Norris, Stockport.

Is there anyone out there who could help me please or give advice as to where I
could look on the internet.

           The only ref I can find for a William that looks a likely candidate is this one from the IGI
       
Baptism 16/march/1828 father William mother Jane, the service was at Manchester Cathedral.

I am searching for a thomas henshall from heaton Norris. he had a brickmaking firm about 1850.

Hi Reid,

I have not come across the name Thomas Henshall in my Banks line so far but
will keep a note of the name just in case.

Have you looked on:   www.stockport.gov.uk       

Click on to Couincil - then Genelogical database - In this section type in the name
Henshall and you may find him there and the date/s he was working.  Should he be
there then e-mail the Archives and see if they can find anything for you.   I found
quite a lot of my Banks on there so it worth a try.

Dear Kate , thanks for the info.I did try the Stockport archives but I didn't think they extended to Heaton Norris area. My grandfather John W Henshall was born in Heaton Norris in 1849 at 20 Bridge Rd,I gather. Thanks Anne Reid( Nee Henshall )from Australia

Dear Anne,

Most of my early Ancestors also came from Heaton Norris.   Like you I had trouble
finding my 3 x Gt:Grandfather being pre 1837 and had to resort to a Researcher who found him, his siblings - now I need his parents.  I found the rest on the
IGI or FreeBMB - with also  a lot of help from RootsChat!   

Checking that stockport site does give you an idea if they were still around at a
later date so is worth a try.

Unfortunately some of my Banks have found their way to London (on my doorstep
almost) and they are harder to find.

Sorry Anne I pressed the wrong key and did not get time to finish last message.

I could not find a Thomas Henshall but there was a William Henshall - Brick and
Tile Maker at Middlewich, New & Bridge Wharf, Pepper Street in 1848. on the
Stockport site.

Would this have been a relative of Thomas?

I guess you have their Births - have you checked 1837 online ?

Why not request a Census Look-up.
