What was the actual date of burial as it's not clear - seems to be superimposed on another entry

EDIT - it was 7.10.1838 so registration should be Sept or Dec qtr.

The only one is this

RAVEN, JOHN  BROWN     75
GRO Reference: 1838  S Quarter in BURTON UPON TRENT UNION  Volume 17  Page 3

Could he have died elsewhere and been taken home to be buried?

So he must have died shortly before that date. The one I gave you is the only one and is the right age, might be worth investigating. I don't think a burial could take place without the death being registered could it, and unlike a birth it was registered within days.

So  going through previous work on  here and personally on this ( again its my stupid old head forgetting things  so very sorry)

The conclusion we came to was that it was an error  regarding the name James...

I must have followed that through ... so will carry on checking old stuff

This is from previous searching that I had in a folder  :-* :-* :-* ::) ::)

Possible widow Mary aged 75 living at Rupelle St in 1841.  RD was Leicester.  I wonder if the 4yr old shown on the GRO search should be 74?
