Nope. Can't find her under Harrington or Millgrove or Milgrove. Its very odd

There is a Giffin Street not Griffin.

Hannah's parents WERE living in the next Street. Stanhope Street.

No sign of Ellen Mary.

I think Hannah may have made up the mysterious Mr Millgrove and left the baby with her parents.

My husband pointed out that Millgrove sounds like a road name

There is a Joseph Strickland widower and his 12 year old son living at 77 Griffin Street

Millgrove is a surname from Somerset / Wiltshire. I've seen many variants including Melgrove, Milngrove and even Musgrove. I suspect the London Millgrove family are descendants of a branch from Frome area of Somerset. The surname is quite now very rare (I'm a Millgrove descendant).

Following on from this I checked for births from 1870 to 1890 for possible birth registration of a Frederick Millgrove and other surname variants.

I got several Millgroves and some truly wonderful other surnames but no Frederick.

Perhaps he wasn't from Britain?
